Made in Germany by Sebo, Europe’s number-one-rated upright vacuum vendor, this unit has a 3-stage filter system: The dust bag is triple layered, followed by a microfilter to stop submicron particles; a final motor (exhaust) filter completes the job. (Click here for diagram.) The Sebo filters down to the HEPA (high-efficiency particulate arresting) standard of .3 microns. Regular vacuum cleaners remove only large particles down to 50 microns and simply pass the smaller particles right through the collection bag and back into the room; the allergen content of the air can actually increase from 2 to 10 times more than before vacuuming. One particular culprit is the dust mite, a major contributor to asthma: Without an allergy vac or central vacuuming system, the mites are shot out the motor’s exhaust. This unit is also better than water bath-type vacuums because particles of 5 to 15 microns are only partially soluble in water, and particles below 5 microns (which include dust mite parts and wastes) are not water soluble at all.

The Sebo folds flat to get under beds and other furniture. Crevice, upholstery and brush tools are built into the case for easy storage.
