What would you say if we told you that a simple series of movements could bring you relief not only from psychological issues that have bothered you for years, but from physical ailments as well? Sound too good to be true? The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is as good as it sounds. Based on the theory that negative emotions and physical pain are caused by disruptions in the body’s energy system, EFT is best described as an emotional form of acupuncture. It involves tapping certain parts of your body with the fingertips to stimulate meridians, while stating aloud the issue you are addressing. EFT has been used for so many things it’s impossible to list them all here, but they include childhood trauma, panic attacks, anxiety, phobias, depression, addictions (such as smoking and overeating) and physical pain. Practitioners have been using the method for years to help their patients overcome these and other problems.
