Ecklonia Cava and Ecklonia Bicyclis extracts are marine plant species derived from edible brown algae, harvested from the waters off the southwestern coastlines of Japan and Korea, and the southeastern coastline of China. (These areas have
not been affected by contaminants from the Fukushima nuclear accident.) Both varieties are are extremely effective as antioxidants and work well in conjunction with other supplements and vitamins.
The regular variety contains only Ecklonia Cava. The Ecklonia Bicyclis, marketed under the name Algoran-FS (click here for photo), has a greater variety of polyphenols and adds several other ingredients for extra potency: the cordyceps sinensis fungus, widely used as a medicinal mushroom; gynostemma pentaphyllum, a Chinese vine with antioxidant effects; and huperzine, from the huperzia serrata plant (also known as firmoss) found in Asia and India, and known for its memory-enhancing capabilities. The unique patented water-extraction process removes all unwanted plant material. The result is 1 kilo of pure extract. It is then tested for heavy metals, microbes and other unwanted contaminants. 60 capsules.
